This provision works in conjunction with all relevant Commonwealth acts (including regulations and instruments adopted under those acts). Where an employee is required to work more than eight hours on a given day, hours of more than eight hours are paid overtime at the following rates: an authorized employee is paid overtime rates if he or she is specifically ordered to work outside of his or her normal working time. If employees are ordered to work an additional 15 minutes or less without interruption with their normal obligation for the day, this overtime is counted as a normal obligation and not as overtime. Penalties (with the exception of the charge referred to in subsection 104.5) are not payable for periods compensated for overtime. The basic rates are increased by 1.0% from 6 months after the increase in subsection 11.2.
